I’ve heard the government is temporarily reducing VAT on children’s meals, entertainment events and family attractions, how is Haven offering this saving to guests and Owners?

The government’s VAT rules are complex. Where possible, Haven is reducing the price of kids’ meals available to eat-in, and for other impacted costs where it is not possible to adjust price.

Haven is separately offering a credit to enable children of our guests to spend on activities booked during their stay (provided that the stay is between 25 June to 1 September inclusive). Owners will receive a separate £15 credit into their account for use on children’s activities.

Why is Haven not reducing the price of all their kids’ meals?

The government has excluded takeaway meals from the temporary reduced rate VAT. You will find that the price of some takeaway kids’ meals has not changed.

Will Haven be reducing the price of family holidays or Play Passes and if not, why?

The government’s temporary reduced VAT rules are complex, as are the everyday VAT rules that impact holiday caravan parks. Therefore, unfortunately it is not possible to reduce the price of family holidays or Play Passes. However, Haven is offering a credit to guests to enjoy on childrens’ activities during their stay.

How do I get access to the booking credits for my kids activities and how many credits can I have on my booking?

For each holiday booking, a credit of £7.50 per child (under 16yrs) will be automatically added to the booking on the My Haven App under Activities. Guests who have privately let a holiday home through a Haven owner will be contacted by Haven in early July with more information about when the activities credit will be available to use.

Holiday bookings with children aged 16 and 17 can also access an individual credit of £7.50 per child, however these activity bookings do need to be made in person on park with a Haven Activities Team member at the Activities Hub.

Can I add extra kids to my booking at a later date, but before my holiday starts?

Yes, up to the maximum amount of persons permitted in the holiday home. However, if a child was not included at the time of booking, then that child will not receive a £7.50 credit. Haven will only apply a £7.50 credit per child added at the original time of booking.

Can I book activities using my credits directly with Haven Teams on park?

All activity bookings for children under 16 yrs will need to be made by the lead guest (who made the original booking) through the My Haven App to use the activities credit. The usual window applies for activities bookings, so up to 12 weeks prior to the start of the break . There is no physical voucher to present on park.

All activity bookings with children aged 16 and 17 yrs will need to be booked on park with the Haven Activities Team at the Activity Hub, as above.

What happens if I (or my kids) change my mind on an activity booking that has used a VAT credit, can I move this to another session for that activity or a different activity?

If guests need to edit an activity booking which includes use of a credit, then the complete value of that individual activity can be transferred to a new booking. However, if the new activity booked is of greater value, then the extra charge will apply, and is payable by the guest. If it is of less value, there will be no refund or additional credit assigned to the guest.

What happens if I cancel an activity booking that was made with a VAT credit?

If a guest cancels an activity, rather than editing and moving to an alternate session or different activity, then any credit associated with the original booking will be lost.

What happens if Haven cancels my activity booking that was made with a VAT credit?

If an activity session is cancelled by Haven and it is not possible to move the booking to an alternative session or activity, then any credit used for the original booking will be reinstated to the guest’s account for a future activity booking to be taken by 1 September 2026.

How long are my credits valid for and will they transfer to a future new holiday booking, if I don’t use them on that break?

Activity credits are valid for the duration of a guests break in the ‘Summer Saving’ period. This applies to guests arriving on or after 26 June, and departing on or before 1 September 2026 and can be used on arrival and departure days. The credits cannot be transferred to a future new holiday booking.
